Focus-Funneling Devices

Post by The Orichalcon » Sun Apr 02, 2006 3:42 am

Ok, I have three of these now. For those who don't know what I'm talking about:

http://auno.org/ao/db.php?id=246206

You can turn these into three different devices to go in HUD1, HUD2 and HUD3. However, all the guides I check aren't too clear on the process, nor the requirements for the items.

From what I've seen, you don't have to have SL to combine or wear these things, however you can only find the items needed to upgrade them in Shadowlands (Elysium.)

If there are any engi's who have these things, I'd love to know how you made them or got the pieces, and of course confirmation on whether or not a froob can wear all three.

Making the 3 devices: Focus-Funneling Device + Focus-Funneling Spirit. That goes into HUD2, you need 3 of those.
Add a Spirit Training Program (Love) to one of the devices, and it'll change to fit HUD3.
Add a Hate program to one of the devices, and it'll change to fit HUD1.

Hunting the parts means camping the named Imps in Elysium - They drop both training progs and the spirit.

You don't need SL to wear the devices, so a fr00b engi can buy the parts, make the devices, and wear them.

beautiful. Just need to get my org mates with AI to search their shopping channels for the items or hunt it for me.

Thanks Tarradax, that was a very to-the-point description of what to do, something all the guides were lacking (lots of padding in those.)

I've heard the spirits and training programs can sell for up to 30 mill each? Should I be expecting to pay these amounts?

Well I decided to do my own research and here are the three devices:

Rancorous Focus-Funneling Helper ( http://auno.org/ao/db.php?id=246212 )
Primitive Focus-Funneling Helper ( http://auno.org/ao/db.php?id=246208 )
Loving Focus-Funneling Helper ( http://auno.org/ao/db.php?id=246210 )

All I gotta say is... I have to get these.

(These are RK2 prices as seen on the GMS, so your milage may vary)

Primitive spirit - 15mil
(Love) Spirit - 6 mil
(Hate) Spirit - 35 mil

The reason for the price difference between the Love/Hate programs is that (Hate) seems to be on a much lower droprate....

Plus more demand due to not needing to swap out your crit scopes all the time, often needing rebuffing. Higher demand, lower supply, yeah, expensive.

The spirit also drops off cerubin in CoH, but rarely. Very rarely. Very VERY rarely. The Funneling Devices are a common drop from him though. Any tradeskiller should be able to pick up at LEAST a Funneling Device, they're not anywhere near as good as the Device+Spirit Helper, but you'll get plenty of skills for not much cash, usually between 1-4mil depending on how many people have been camping him and how greedy they are.

I've usually seen full sets of all three Helpers for 90-100M lately. [Edit: On RK2]

OMG!

*Drool*

There seems to be so many tradeskill buffing items that froob traders and engies should be able to reach 1200 in tradeskills without too much implant swapping.
Former 220 omni nm doc on Atlantean.
Now I focus on Heptagram777, a neutral trader on Rimor.

Heh, hurry up and grab some before they stick the "Must have expansion" tag on it like they did with the viral compilers a couple patches ago.

When I first put together my set I had to camp for the Hate Program pretty much a week straight.

Heh, all I got to say is: Ask Corellia how many imps she fragged. And I'm pretty sure she STILL didn't get a hate program.
