Help me choose the prof...

As mentioned in the Subject. I would want you to help me choose a profession for my lvl 160-170 tl5 twink. He's gonna be atrox with Diamondine Kick-a$$ Pistol and Onehander combo. I was thinking about these profs: Agent, Doctor, Soldier or Trader.
If you see any pros and/or cons for the profession please reply. You may also want to post some other prof than those 4.

not sure about agent ... but it is a possibility to study ....

Doc will have hard time with IP ... and wont hit anyone...

Thank you for the fast reply Willy :P Yeah.. doc wont hit anyone indeed, maybe slow down ;P Advie might be fun too :D but its really hard to choose between those profs ^^ maybe ill flip a coin or wait for more replys :p

Trader is your best bet...but I will warn you that with the soon to come changes to AS...your toon will be /fail somewhat soon ^^

It reminds me of when Funcom fixed the %dmg to other players so that all those who twinked with LOW HP or 1HP pvp toons to exploit the system all of the sudden were no longer viable in a fight.

The concept for the new Aimed Shot system change is that Aimed Shot, Full Auto, and Sneak Attack would lock each other. So you can no longer string a lot of those type of specials together anymore.

That's not all.

AS will also now have a 3sec "cast time" in which any attack interrupts it. There will also be a "backstab like" version of AS.

I hope that doesn't mean the mob should have it's back on me... I also hope that my only special as an Agent won't be extremely nerfed.

As froob, that doesn't work too well in tl5 BS. As an FP doc, you won't be able to cast CH. As an FP Sold, you will be just a second class soldier. And as an FP trader, you really won't have the nanoskills to land drains on many people.

Thats an idea i ha long time ago : agent fp enfo fo chllenger, thus way u can play deffensive (hide) an offensive (high ar) .... just my 1c

I would think a trader would have much higher AR than an FP enfo.

252 AR from challenger.

=252 more AR in fp enfo

420 AR from drains

-350 def from defender + 300 AR to you from corp prot.

= 1050 more AR as a trader. + higher natural shotgun.

What do you mean by /fail :P i would only have AS, Burst and Fling shot so none of these lock each other? Im confused :PP and for the prof I think the trader is the way to go then ;)

Attack rating: (solitus level 160)

agent fp enfo
664 (base rifle skill) + 120 (UA) + 210 (IMPS) + 232 (challenger) = 1226 (agent can't cast top challenger selfed)
trader
613 (base pistol skill) + 210 (imps) + 420 drains = 1243

nanoskills

agent fp enfo
613 (base pm/ts) + 105 (imps) - 140 (mimic) = 578
trader
613 (base pm/ts) + 105 (imps) = 718

by the time a trader has casted his top drains an agent would have used his rifle 4 times with 1 AS scoring 3 crits

btw agent would have also rage with a maximum NR of 1400 and if that doesn't work for you, you can also fp trader, if you so much like it, you can ladder divest line only since it has 100% NR compared to 190 of the plunder line. Bottom line is that an agent is versatile. Since you can't make up you mind, i suggest you roll an agent and try out mimic Doc, Soldier, trader or anything you like and see how it goes.

Good job. Now do it with a 170 ATROX and using SHOTGUN and SHOTGUN/PISTOL(33/67) for both of the calculations. Since this thread is about a DKP/Onehander setup.

EDIT:

And trust me...paper pvp is great and all, but in real pvp that agent is going to get rapped w/o roots. There is nothing a froob agent can do vs a paid enfo running at them with 15k+ hp(I rape most 170ish paid agents on my 150 pvm enfo), an advy/fixer with over 2k evades, or a doc CHing every 8sec. In order for a froob to do decently at this tl range, it's going to have to be able to disable your target, hit your target, and be able to heal. There are 3 professions that I see that can do this decently as a froob. Trader, doc, and mp. And for this setup, doc just doesn't have the AR to pull it off, mp would be LOL w/o a shield-evade setup. Trader is the way to go, hands down.

Well you are right I missed the original post. Just for the record tho an agent would have the same base pistol skill as the trader and even lower by 30sh points shotgun skill.

but what makes you think a trader would survive?

We need to set one thing straight first tho. You will not have a chance vs. paid toons with billions in equip in certain professions.

Now that we have that out of the way, the reason trader has the best chance in tl5 BS is because it can drain it's opponents to the point of where they can't hit it. -800 AR from drains and -200 AR/+150 AAD or -350 AR/+300 AAD depending on which corp protection nano a tl5 froob trader can use. So that's -1150 or -1450 AR depending upon how far a froob trader can actually go.

Trader also has a good set of crowd control toons. Roots and calms are great in pvp.

And then, traders also have "decent" healing.
