Profession Moderators/masters

Post by sayonora » Tue Dec 16, 2008 5:46 am

well, since the admins and mods are so busy (I think) perhaps it would be usefull to make a modsquad for each profession, consistent out of masters of each profession (read: people who know the profession).
Would be usefull for them to organise the forums, making stickies and guides, and removing useless threads/redirecting the people.
Some will be quite obvious...like saavick for soldiers, Hansoo for traders etc

if your short, I know quite something about traders and advys, so Ill apply if needed

Nice idea, Sayo. I'd second that. Something along the line of "Professionals" like on the official forums =D>

Sadly, i am out, since i dont know my profession very well ;) we are all gimps, aren't we

There's 3 mods + 2 admins right now, at least active.

If there's one particular "HAO I MAEK TRADER TWINKZ" there's a "Report post" button you can use

true, but that would spam the mods, and if there were profession mods, they would be busy with their forum any time wich means they would prevent people from eve having to press "report", caus they would have fixed it.

allso those mods would probably know those links by heart and can just reply and lock and boom! its done...no mod having to load 10 pages to find the right topic ^^

besides, there would be stickies there then, caus the masters would make guides to the cliche's.

If you want, I can make a list for each profession of players wich are suitable for the position...
if you have a tip, can allways PM me and Ill have a look at it...please dont ask me if you can be on the list, caus I really would hate to say "sorry, but you dont really qualify :s"...its only a scratch list, it can change

The reason the official forums need/have professionals is because there are many players of each profession who want to give their opinions and suggestions to funcom. The professionals read all the feedback from their forums and chat with players etc and then relay it to funcom, filtered as they see necesary.
This forum is not connected to funcom, we don't need this. The purpose of this forum is to help eachother answer questions, and you don't need a title to do so.

Lastly, I think it's a ridiculous idea to have Sayanora determine who is competent and who isn't to be a professional.

Honestly, I've thought about doing something like a Professionals program in the past but decided there isn't enough traffic to the individual professions forums to justify it.
Rubi-Ka 2 (Rimor)
Snarfblatt (Engie) - Ex-President - Knights of Ka
Studmuffin (Advie)
Beatinstik (Enforcer)
Roleo (Soldier)
Schemp (MP)
McLuvvin (Keeper)
Jamesblatt (Agent)
Snarfette (Engie)
Misokute (Doctor)
Snarftech (NT)
Snarfix (Fixer)
Rubi-Ka 1 (Atlantean)
Snarfblatt (Engie)

Honestly, i think it's a nice idea. One professional per profession board can keep the things clear and streamlined. Decision about sticky posts and knowledge links will be reviewed and the like. Post like the occasional "Show us your <insert profession here>" can be standardized. Lots of things to do for a few mods. Saavick already complaining about editing too many posts (she's struggling with sayonora) :) .
Professionals will bring more structure. Not saying it is chaotic in there, personally, i almost never browser forums other than the prof i am playing (agent, nt and doc so far).

How about some statistics: how much posts do we have a week?

/mod hat on
Tarra, Saavick and flyingengi: stop derailing. or lock. decide.
/mod hat off
(couldn't resist)

The complaint was not about having too much work. The complaint was about one moron spamming the boards full with pointless posts.

You have been modded!

I think it's quite a good idea, but I don't think it's necessary. I wouldn't put somebody you barely know/trust into a position, because there is no1 else for that position for example. But some known people like Worldtrader or Accomplice or Jones or reids and probably some more, could get a professional position I guess. There will always be a risk in giving powers to people ofcourse...

I actually like the idea myself. The profession forums could use some tidying up and consolidating of most asked questions. In fact, I don't see why their haven't been a sticky of a faq for each profession yet. In the knowledgebase forum there are some nice stickies and there have been many post all over with good detailed information that should be stickied, but haven't been. Then the thread gets buried two pages back. later, a noob ask a question which was answered in that thread already and everyone jumps down his throat saying use search or scroll down to find the information you asked (by the way, all search features suck for any forum or game anywhere on the net in my opinion...it's useless about 80% of the time). Some of use are nice enough to just post a link to the thread though....however, these things shouldn't be necessary as often as I've seen them here. Sure you'll always have this issue, but tidying up the profession forums, placing some stickied faqs, a guide or two or links to official forum guides/faqs would be a welcomed addition to the site by most I believe. Who wouldn't like to have that?
