list of skills an nt should max

Post by BloodR3x » Sun Dec 12, 2010 5:52 am

completely new to NT's so i'm a bit clueless which skills to max

i've tried to search but haven't been able to find a full list of which ones should be maxed. so far i have this list:

Matter creation
Psychic
Stamina
Intelligence
Body dev
Nano pool
NanoC init
Treatment

if anyone could give me all skills i really need it would be very appreciated

btw, NT's do not use any weapons right?

If you'll be kiting, definitely runspeed. But yeah, it depends a bit on your strategy.

Stamina, Psychic: maxing should not be always necesary, don't keep it too low, but don't max unless you have plenty of IP. So these get the lowest priority of your list, with psychic being a bit more important then Stamina.
Body dev.: While I usually maxed it/kept it high, I'm not sure that was the best choice as a nanomage (might be different for you if other breed). It's a very expensive skill (IP-wise) and only gives little profit (2hp/body dev). Imps and other items are much more important to keep your max health high.
NanoC Init: not required if you can already insta-cast your favorite nuke at full-def. This won't easily happen, so yeah, important skill

MC, Int, nanopool, treatment, should be good to max yeah.
Another important skill is Computer Literacy. Try to get a 6-slot belt with Nano formula recompiler as soon as possible.
And the other nanoskills are not to be neglected either. Humidity Extractor (TS/MM); Cost (MM/PM/SI) and calms (PM/SI) are most important, but the others are very nice too. If you want to do micro-managment of IP it's nice to know that you never need more MM/BM then what the nano requires. Having more skill in the others however helps you in landing nukes (MC), roots (MC/TS), calms and blinds (SI/PM).

About weapons: at some point past lvl 150 you should have enough IP to consider a weapon. Before that you can use buffing weapons like Soft Pepper, O.E.T. Co Jess and Pillow with Important stripes.

Good luck and enjoy the booms!

Yes, AoE nukes you should probably use all of them at some point. The only one I never used is Kels. Can find the list on auno of course. For other nukes I would advicethis site since it calculates which one is best for you.

Problem with evades is that you don't have enough ip to max all at all time in earlier levels. I did put some IP in it to prevent getting critted all the time. But they only start working around lvl 120 I think when you have enough IP to max evades and enough nano init to go full def.

If you're kiting, then aimed shot and rifle are big nonos. Even if you're PvPing, I would prefer an Ithaca over an AS rifle like a Zastaba (for froobs of course). NTs PvP by dealing crazy burst damage, so a 40s AS cooldown with mad damage would be more worth it than a 20s AS cooldown dealing moderate damage. Besides, a 275 VE would have to be equipped to make the Zastaba cap in PvP, owing to its low crit modifer. I personally prefer a nano targetting helper, so shotties are the way to go for me. :P

For evades, I like to keep Evade Close and Dodge Ranged at the 50% mark just to prevent getting Critted all the time. They're both dark blue and so are very difficult to keep maxed.

Yes, I would only advice to use AS in pvp. I used arbalest with 275 scope and had like 19 sec AS cycle, went pretty good in pvp (was at lvl 174, ql 147 arbalest). DocJones uses arbalest for pvm, even at lvl 200, though. It's a cool weapon, but don't follow DocJones too much :p.

About shotties: usually works, but you'll have some of the lowest AR of all choices in my opinion. As long as your enemies are casual and don't have too much evades, should work pretty good though.

hehe... I am just too lazy to work on my weapon skills... Blutblume was shotty'sh as well, but i tend to focus more on my nano damage (HUD1/3 gonna be both NTH).

Oh, and if you are kiting, EVERY ranged weapon is a nono.

Are you suggesting then that melee weapons are better?

Kidding, but I do think OET Jess is still a pretty good ranged weapon even when kiting. :P Any buffing item will do for kiting really, especially if it gives you that extra MC/nano points/nano init for an added kiting edge.

ofc, MC buffing weapons like the Soft Pepper Pistol helps, while kiting (i personally used one myself until late TL5).

Just to simplify this, if you are kiting just max:

MC, for AOE nukes
Run speed
Nano pool
Nano init
TS - so you can run a good nano delta
Treatment, ofc, for implants
CL, for NCUs for lots of outside buffs and for a compiler
Hit points - so you survive the odd one or two hits

Weapon skills are a waste of IP
Likewise, evades are a waste of time. The group of mobs you are kiting will be so high that, if they catch up with you, you are toast.

If you do the above, you'll have no IP problems at all. You'll still have plenty of IP left over for reasonable calms, range increasers, absorbs, nano cost reducers.
