A nanomage engie is a perfect fit

There is no perfect fit with nts;/

Depending on what new stuff they do to nanomages they may or may not wind up better for nts then sol BUT no matter wich way the math works out you may find you prefer a different balance.
There is nothing in life the proper use of explosives can not fix.

Firstly id like to say im new to the forum and a hello to you all!

NM NT's do have there advantages in my experience, but in pvp against melee users you need a big nano pool to keep them rooted and blinded and nuking them while shooting them with pistols it works for me, melee users dont normaly even get a hit in before they die, so this is where i think NM NT are good, havent tried the trox but im thinking it wouldent be quite the same.

Ah, why are you so concerned about keeping an opponent rooted as a nanomage? Think about it, that's why a trox NT....in case that melee opponent gets a few hits in. The smaller nanopool means a weaker nuke, but percentage-wise the difference in nukes is minor, especially compared to the survivability improvement. The bottom line is what I mentioned before, my nanomage NT is now a lot better, simply because I played the trox NT for awhile.

well not specific to NT's keeping melee users rooted is a good thing.
melee unlike nanos & guns can be used while running so unless you can out run the melee enemy you'll be getting stabbed in the back a lot.

Yup, as I swing into my third trip into NTs, I want to root everything -- due to lessons picked up playing fixer. Not interested in either trox or NM this time, and the Soli will be packin an assault rifle.

I can see what you suggest, Ferengi, but i am really interessted in WHAT you have learned from playing a troxie NT and adapted to your NM playstyle? Just wanna learn, though...

Oh, just some of the basics...that you can move during Recharge, so the only moment you need to stand still for depends on Attack and nanoInit. What sort of range the melee mobs have as shown on the minimap. What kind of running patterns work out. When FA stims will work. How to place leechers, etc. The advantage in the trox experiment was that mistakes didn't mean instant reclaim, and I could push up against the limits a few times.

PS Hi Icy.

It will be necroing but... I noticed people went from 'NT Trox' discussion to 'What is the difference between breeds' discussion. Ok so since this is AO Froobs and since I am a froob myself, I'll talk about froob differences only. In my opinion and personal game experience, the MAIN differences between breeds when you're a froob (and not low lvl twink) are:

Breed locked items
Shades of Lucubration
(+30 int/psy making int/psy requiring imps and armors easier to equip)
The Expensive Kevlar Vest of Professor Jones
+20 int & +20 to all nanoskills YEAH :p oh wait, +50 nano programming too, imba
Silken Legchopper Gloves
(more attack rating when using 2he/1he weapons, easier to twink them on too)

Ability caps

Ability caps influence a few things. Talking endgame it's armor: nanomage will equip Miy's Nano Armor easier (which in turn adds to nanoskills - more MC is always yummy for NT), opifex will equip Miy's Ranged and Melee easier, atrox will equip Miy's Tank easier. Another endgame item is Cloak of the Reanimated Illusionist (5/5) etc., the Illusionist and Healer is much easier to equip on nanomage as they require intelligence and psychic. For the sake of this cloak, I dare say that it's worth it for doctor/NT to go nanomage, fixer to go opifex (for Jester's variant with evades) and melee toons like enforcers and 1he advies to go atrox (for Gladiator's variant with bonus melee skills).

Max HP/Max Nano

Yes, this is obviously also a big difference between breeds.

Btw. I also kept hearing "Go opi for evades!" and I didn't understand it at first but now I kinda do. It's that some +evades items are either opifex locked or require agility/sense (where opifex excels). Check Omni Steel-ribbed and Apocalypse Leather Armor, you'll know what I mean :)

Btw2. Skill differences between breeds are MINIMAL, trickle from like 64 more/less agility is not much imho, it helps you to cast a next nano maybe 2-3 levels earlier on nanomage when you hit titlecaps but you could sometimes squeeze those missing points from better imps or some other items, so I wouldn't rely on this really.
