So rifle or pistol? Seems like I gotta spend IP on either pistol+multiranged or rifle+aimed shot.

Or are there other options? Melee is out of the question, but have I overlooked something?

Rifle path is less IP because you can spend virtually no IP on AS by twinking on a good scope. Same can't be said for your multi skill.

What do you mean by twinking a scope? Getting a good eye implant?

Among other things. Scopes don't OE, so you can just get the Solitus SB (+1k percep for a very short time) and get a badass scope in (Or the fixer + advy Percep buffs). That + UA should give you enough AS to equip most QL200 Rifles with almost no IP spent.

I've looked into going melee for a kiter, since you can melee on the run. Basically, I always came around to World+Tarra point of view versus mobs -- just nuke them till they glow. Use one of the nuke tools, you'll never look at a weapon again..beyond it's buff capabilities.

The other day I saw an NT with Nelebs Rod in ToTW, looked to be doing OK damage. I looked up the one I had in bank on the gimp buffer trader and drained it on. That Rod has a 4m range, which is pretty good for melee and it is a fast weapon. It's got so-so damage, but it might be worth some investigation.

The NT I have has had pistols all his career. Currently @ 196 he's wielding a master engineer pistol. In addition to having some nicent buff modifiers it does decent dmg. Normal dmg ~1.1k, crits ~3k.

Hmm this is a question I've been asking with a little more urgency of late. You see My NT is now getting close to the stage where the important skills are maxed, abilities are on or close to their breed caps and IP is about to become plentyful.

Now I have to say that weilding a weapon with the intention of doing damage with it prior to level 150 as an NT is a mistake. IP is far too tight to be wasting any of it on weapon skills. However once your nanoskills, treatment, first aid, abilities, body dev, nano pool, etc etc have all been maxed, then perhaps it's time to look at getting something that goes bang!

Ok lets think about weapons.... rifle, well I'm PvM not PvP and PvM rifle damage sucks when you're an agent so we're not going to go with a rifle. Shotgun, may be viable but I dunno enough about them to rate them .... I guess I just don't like them. Melee - just don't go there! Looks like we're going with pistolas, that's good the only light blue weapon skill we have! Now what can a froob aspire to pistol wise for endgame. Sol K-91 Gold Monsters..... hmmm 1101 pistol skill, that's alot of pistol! Similar with the PoP the requirements mean that you are going to have to implant weaponskills.

Even the Master Engineer Pistol is going to be hard to keep out of oe without being able to implant pistol skill somehow. Looks like I'm back with 'ole faithful the SOL K-94 Crimson Monster x2.......

To wear master eng pistol it is necessary to put
pistol cluster to right wrist.

This will take away either nanodelta or runspeed.

You'll be wearing this in high lvls in which you should have too much runspeed for kiting in any case. Also you should not run out of nano unless your trying to kite some 180+ dynabosses.

Heyas,

i am stumbling around the same decision at the moment. I have nearly 300k IP left over and i am very unsure if i'd go the rifle way or the pistolero one.

I occasionally do PvP, albeit i am not really setup 100% for this. I am considering dualing the CDR's from foremans. It has low req's, decent damage, many specials and is quite fast. I don't know if it is a decent addition to my nukes at endgame, and i don't know if they still drop from notum soldier.
But to be honest, there ain't much of a choice. All melee options are out because of low HP. That leaves us only with ranged....

Ayer my NT is now 158 and just hitting her breed caps and the question is once again .. where will i spend all the spare IP that will begin piling up soon. Obviously it's time to look at ways of suplimenting her damage with a weapon.

Now as you can see from my earlier post I was considering going for K-94's but I've had one of my mad ideas :D and I thought I'd run it past you all before I took the plunge to see what you thought.

What about a BBI AS-90 Gold Star naturally I'll go for a 275 scope and will have to triple imp Full Auto but despite that it looks a pretty fair weapon for a froob. What do you think? I know the split req's are gonna eat IP but that's not really an issue if the specials are reasonable and frequent.... and what a selection of specials ... even without considering the proc on the 185, the combination of AS, FA & Burst with reasonable min damage and fast recharge looks damn good from where I'm standing...

Tell me what you think please, don't want to go to all the trouble if someone's tried it and found it awful :)

That BBI AS-90 gun won't deal much damage. My NT equipped a Custom Heavy Suppressor (like your gun a AR/SMG hybrid with many specials) at 150ish and it plain sucked. AR/SMG clusters conflict with nanoskills and attack rating is too low to hit yellow/red mobs. Damage was like: miss, miss, miss, flingshot miss, burst miss, fullauto miss, 20 damage, miss...but it did 10k+ Fullautos on Leets

My NT switched back to Shotgun after some missions and I'm quite satisfied with it (used Vektor ND Shotguns before). Attack rating is quite ok (850ish at level 200) and min damage on Maw of the Abyss is good.

I also tried using Pain of Patricia. Attack rating is a bit higher than with shotguns, but min damage sucked and bursts didn't land that good.
