Re: Top 3 Concerns for New Players

I never really liked the Maussers, personally.

And yeah, RGD dualed with a Gamma Ejector doesn't really hold up, but I did fine dualing pairs of RGDs for quite a while.

But I would still probably recommend the OT Kerans grinner. No need to raise Multi Ranged for that.

Re: Top 3 Concerns for New Players

Fixers are a great profession to learn the game with, and, to this day, my favorite profession in the game. Just make sure you read Tarra's guide here. Also, as a froob Fixer, you're going to start hitting some fairly serious slow-downs around level 60-70, which will plague you all the way through t...

Re: Basic Beastiary?

Just a tip... if you can, do the lizard scanning mission with somebody who can either charm or agg the lizards (and not kill them). So a 'crat, or a fixer (snare them and let them chase you back to Divenchy), or whatever. As long as they either stay charmed, or stay attacking you (and you don't kill...

Re: Confusion about Levelling

Yeah, skills are locked at certain levels based on your Title Level. Title levels also control how much IP you get per level - TL 1, levels 1-14, 5k IP/level TL 2, levels 15-49, 10k IP/level TL 3, levels 50-99, 20k IP/level TL 4, levels 100-149, 40k IP/level TL 5, levels 150-189, 80k IP/level TL 6, ...

Re: Data on SoFC

No, it isn't in the same set of weapons as the Sword of Wonder/Scim of Spetzes/SMG/etc... According to Auno, the SoFC theoretically can run from ql 200 to 300. However, it drops from Inferno Catacombs bosses, which greatly limits the effective QL in which it will drop. If you want to experiment, you...

Re: New to AO and AO Froobs.

Welcome to AO! I second EDTA on the staying Neut. I'll admit it's worth it to have a single Omni alt for shopping (medsuits, mostly), but other than that, neut wins with, in my opinion, the best laid-out and most attractive cities, the most freedom to go anywhere, and a greater freedom to do quests ...

Re: Fixer rebalancing GA4 reqs

Either it's a new change or I simply didn't notice it before, but did anyone else notice they're trying to make the "Summon <Object>" line useful? Specific ammo summons, first aid kit summons (Both SL and RK flavors) and Cluster Bullet summon... This actually looks like something you'd want to use ...

Re: Spirit Infused Yuttos Modified NCUs

The QL 160 yuttos mems come from the Xan Civilization questline in Adonis. Each character can only do the questline once, but since it's the same questline that gives the third specialization and the Syndicate Brain Symbiant, it's fairly popular. The net result being that most people do it, so the m...

which is slightly odd as by that logic I should pronounce the start of Kiytan "Key", but don't. (I pronounce it to rhyme with sky)
This is the ENGLISH language! Logic has no place in pronunciation guidelines!

EDIT: Oh, yeah, topic at hand. Right.

I always pronounced it "Meeee."

Re: Fixer rebalancing GA4 reqs

Just out of idle curiosity on the issue, given my general love of fixers, I examined the new GA4 reqs opposite some basic skill buffing in a skill emulator. According to that, a level 200 opi fixer, using the imp set that Edta linked (and a QL 200 NCU hacker interface, of course), would be able to h...

Re: Spirit Infused Yuttos Modified NCU

Unless they've changed something in the last couple patches, the only requirement for the final result QL is the ME of the tradeskiller...

Well, that, and you can't lower the QL. So if you have a base QL 220 memory, then the final memory must be QL 220 or higher.

Re: Spirit Infused Yuttos Modified NCU

Froob players can't use GMS or player shops, unfortunately. Since you're on RK2, I recommend looking up Pnunu - he can get parts and do specific QLs across the whole range. If I recall correctly, his price is 10 million if you have both the circuit and the memory (which can run 15-20 million between...

Re: Free-related questions ^_^

1) Ranged advy would probably work fine, as would a fixer. A soldier could do a decent job if you went a nonstandard route (SMG or Pistol). Pretty much any of the nano professions (Engi, doc, crat, trader, MP, NT, etc...) can do it as well, but for them it's not the focus. 2) The best map out there ...

Re: How not to suck too bad in PVP?

Around late TL4/TL5, as a sloob melee advy... If you can afford it, you'll want to look into switching to a Sword of ( Curiosity / Wonder )/ (Sparkling) Scimitar of Spetses combo of some kind, in the highest QL you can twink into (lower QLS are more expensive). If you've got AI, you can sub Kyr axes...

Re: Technotronica Neural Disruptor

Um. According to what I'm reading, it looks like it used to be a decent soldier alpha weapon... as it is now - almost useless. Aimed Shot is bad for PvM soldiers - even non-agents mostly only use it in PvP. Beyond that, it's got an absurdly long attack/recharge time, which means that even if you wer...
